Daily Nugget of Gold 881

Piling On of Good Things

OK, we’ve gotten the bad stuff out of the way in our last get-together, let’s talk a little about how it seems when blessings flow to us, they sometimes come in surprising streams all at once. “When it rains, it pours” can be used to describe either the bad or the good, and we agree with that sentiment either way. The good things that happen are almost mind numbing in scope. Did you ever hear how someone hit the lottery not just once, but two or even three times in rapid succession? Yet, most of us would not ascribe this happening to The Law of Attraction, would we? This wonderful law isn’t limited to working through that one channel, but it isn’t opposed to it, either.

How about the person who lands that great job, finds the love of their life, and suddenly finds themselves with some other source of “unexpected” income? Yes, it happens that way, too. The thing about the workings of The Law of Attraction is that it will, just as water will, find it’s way into our lives through the path of least resistance. When it’s good things coming our way, we want to avoid blocking paths that it can come to us by. Doubts or fears can block the good as well as attract the bad. Preconceived notions that we must be paid for our efforts directly and only through that sort of exclusive mutual exchange are self-limiting thoughts, also.

When the floodgates open and the blessings seem to flow into our lives in rapid succession we sometimes may be taken aback. Some of us believe that thinking more good will flow will jinx the continuation of blessings but this cannot be the case if we understand that our thoughts become things. It’s the expectation- thought mixed with emotion that drives this and it will deliver on whichever way we are centering our thinking. When you see someone knee-deep in blessings, celebrate with them deep within your own heart. If we loath them or envy them we can turn their wonderful news into negative results in our own lives in a hurry.

Piling on the good is going to happen with some people, and each time we see it, we want to think about how cool that is, what a neat thing having something like that happening can be. It makes absolutely no sense to walk by a fragrant and pretty garden of magnificent flowers and be thinking about if we had this in our own yards we’d probably end up killing it, instead of just enjoying the awesome beauty and delicious scents for what they are- from a Law of Attraction standpoint. Who would do that?

Question of the Day to Ask Ourselves

“What can I dwell on in order to have more blessings flow into my life?”

That Piling On

You’ve seen it happen both ways, yet you’ve probably chalked it up to just really bad or wonderfully good luck. What we are talking about is when life seems to pile on the curses or the blessings. Have you ever thought that this is likely the work of The Law of Attraction in action? Well, if not, or even if you might of suspected it, let’s look at this a little more in depth.

Let’s talk about misfortune first just to get it out of the way. We can’t just talk about the good stuff here for, The Law of Attraction works just as well on the bad or negative thoughts as it does on the good or positive thoughts. Whichever thoughts we get all emotionally worked up over, the law springs into action and begins attracting like events to us. While most people either aren’t aware of this law, or in some cases don’t think it applies to them, the truth is whether we are aware of it or not, whether we believe it or not, this law is always in motion in our lives.

For the most part our lives are a mixture of positive and negative events. This is what lulls us into a false sense of thinking that our thoughts don’t matter much. From the moment we think a thought and give it emotional oomph, the law begins formulating a response, however. Sometimes that response is abandoned as we move on to other thoughts, but often the thing we’re fixated on, feared or revered, begins to move into place via this law.

Don’t you know of times where someone in your life seems to have one misfortune after another? Negative thinking or positive thinking are habits. We can’t really see what a person thinks or feels on the inside, nor should we ever attempt to judge, but we ought to be aware for our own sake that our thoughts DO matter and we want to avoid being in a negative state of mind just as we would avoid stepping off tall buildings or plunging ourselves into icy water. Just the same, if you think about it, often those chains of negative events are happening to a person who is outwardly focused on the negative. As Mike Dooley says, “Thoughts become things” and we really do want to try and avoid having these things pile up on us if they are negative.

We want to understand that we are in “creation mode” at all times and that means that if we do not wish to be creating negative things within our lives then we really want to get good at keeping ourselves in a positive state of mind more and more as we go along. Our next segment will be happier, we are going to talk about the good kind of “piling on” and we’ll have some fun with it. Think happy thoughts!

Question of the Day to Ask Ourselves

“What can I do to avoid thinking negatively about circumstances, events, myself or others?”

Daily Nugget of Gold 879

Dangers of Dabbling

Let’s face it, we’re not fond of failing. We like to avoid failing whenever possible. Nobody wants a bad experience, a feeling that we’ve wasted our efforts. We like to avoid going nowhere, we don’t enjoy being mocked for trying, we try and sidestep heartache and fear. All of these things have an effect on our actions, if we let them- we will measure what we do sometimes. We dial back our efforts a bit so that we have a safe place to retreat to- we “dabble” in the things that may not work out. It takes no real commitment to dabble. We’re just trying something out for size, seeing if we like it, we just want to try our hand at something- we’re open to the possibility that we may find some hidden talent which produces genuine success, but we are also open to it not going as planned because we have already built into our approach all the excuses we need just in case.

Dabbling is for the faint of heart, make no mistake about it. Dabbling in something builds that comfortable escape route away from any serious commitment. When you’ve dabbled in something, did you ever “burn your bridges” to safely retreat away from failure? Or was it more likely you not only left your bridges intact and built more? If you love success, it would really behoove you to think this over, because dabbling by nature is more a broad avenue to failure itself than to success. Oh, there’s this tiny chance it will all go as planned and you can ease into success, but being successful isn’t about doing only what works the first time around. The road to any great success goes through failure and setbacks, and the true heights of success can really only be found in that direction.

We absolutely love this quote by basketball legend Michael Jordan, because it completely captures what we’re trying to convey: “I have missed more than 9,000 shots in my career. I have lost almost 300 games. On 26 occasions I have been entrusted to take the game winning shot, and I missed. I have failed over and over and over again in my life. And that’s precisely why I succeed.” Read that quote for yourself a few more times. Notice that Jordan’s spirit had nothing to do with building avenues of retreat away from being in situations where he might have failed. Instead, he endured the failures on the road to success, and in his life, he used what went wrong to sharpen his skills to succeed by getting better and better as he learned all the lessons failure had to offer. In short, he used failure to succeed.

Let’s stop kidding ourselves, having the comfort zone right behind us at all times isn’t helpful. We want to step out of it and live our lives where other people dare not go. We want to embrace the fear because it’s in doing just that where we will find our greatest potential being realized. Anything short of that will likely cause us to face ultimate failure- our failure to do, to be, and to have.

Question of the Day to Ask Ourselves

“What can I do today to eliminate the idea of merely dabbling in things from my thinking?”

Daily Nugget of Gold 878

Rehashing Events

Rehashing… strange word. What comes to mind when you think of this word? Do we rehash positive events, victories, or things that make us smile? Most of the time we think of rehashing it seems to be in the negative or at least- neutral state. Either nothing added, or worse, a relived negative experience with another pass through what went wrong.

Sometimes a rehashing of events occurs during an argument where one side is looking for something to help prop up their take on things. Sometimes rehashing something just takes place within the confines of our own minds. We would like to interject something here which may influence whether or not we really want to do this. Our subconscious minds have no mechanism for differentiating between an experience we are currently living through or one we are just recalling from our past, from an emotional level. The Law of Attraction responds to what we are emotionally feeling and then works to attract the conditions, people, and events that are in harmony with that. Since that’s so, we want to stay away from focusing on the negative because we cannot be focused on the that and attract the positive, can we? Yet, as much as we would like to keep our focus on the positive things, our nature seems to be fixated on those negative events. What to do?

Remember that no one can make you think a thought against your will. You have complete and ultimate control of what your thoughts are on. Not only were you given this virtual video camera and storage unit in your brain, but you were also given the option of having total editorial control as well. What you can do with negative things is not relive them at all, but suppose that’s not so easy for you, then what? You can change how you remember them. Once you destroy the recording you’ve made of the event, it becomes increasingly impossible to play it back again and wrap it up with negative emotions.

How do we do that? By playing it again but making people and things in it seem cartoonish and silly. Suppose someone yelled at you for something, you can play it back making their head 4 times bigger, turning purple, or having their hair grow rapidly as they do it. You can imagine their voice alternating between deep and high notes. As they stomp off you can see their head spin or mustard drenching them from a bucket at the doorway. Get creative, make it extremely silly and relive THAT.

You have the power, you have the editorial magic within you. Relive “as is” only the empowering events. Relive your victories, and don’t reach back and rehash in arguments. Instead, look to find common ground and a solution which suits everyone best. Exercise the control you have, you will be far happier if you do!

Question of the Day to Ask Ourselves

“What can I do right now to change bad memories into neutral or even funny ones?”

The Changes We Want to Make

Our last session talked about the huge mountain of lack and limitation programming we must overcome in order to get to where we want to go, and we may have scared you a little in how monumental a task this is. Certainly a teaspoon a day of positive reading isn’t going to make that change happen, we’re going to have to get really creative in how we observe things. We are going to have to over-write a great deal of bad information, but believe it or not, this isn’t as difficult as you might think it is. It’s not easy- but it IS within your capabilities right now to pull off. You’re going to see in short order- we aren’t kidding about that.

As we get into that, let’s talk a little about the role that logic plays in all of this. Oddly enough, what we logically believe seems to have little say in all of this. We may know that smoking is bad for us, but we also know how strong our cravings are for smoking when we are addicted to it, both physical and psychological. We may be fully aware of what constitutes a healthy diet, but we may give ourselves “a pass” on a great many unhealthy snacks or oversized portions “just this once”. We may know that saving money is a smart thing to do, but we allow ourselves to overspend here and there anyhow. “Knowing” does not equal behavioral change, does it?

Underneath the knowing is a thing called habit, and habit is an emotionally tied set of behaviors which operate as short-cuts in our thinking or reasoning. Habits can be good or bad, and they can be difficult to change due to the emotional capital we place in them. Napoleon Hill suggested using “auto-suggestion” while in a relaxed state of mind. Auto-suggestion is the repeating of an affirmation until we embody what it says. That’s nice, but it runs up against the struggle between the conscious mind and the subconscious mind, with the conscious mind playing “goalie”, blocking our determined efforts to influence the subconscious mind with our affirmations. It seems that if we are alert enough to make ourselves do it, then we are also alert enough to sabotage most of that effort, consciously.

We discovered that truth the hard way ourselves. We “know” that the low-hanging fruit should be easy to reach but we found that it clung to the tree, just the same. Then we discovered that hypnosis, that is the act of listening to the suggestions made by another (of which we agree with and want to implement) while in the “hypnotic” state- a state of extreme relaxation- is the best way to make these changes stick. What hypnosis isn’t is being under someone else’s control. Good hypnotherapy includes such lines as “making the changes you agree you wish to make” or “making changes that agree with your values and beliefs” or the like. Look up some hypnotherapy on YouTube or other audio/video sources, sample the portion after the relaxation part and make sure you agree with the message. Then do it as designed. Expect it will take multiple sessions- daily sessions- before you begin seeing results. Then as you see the results you want, keep doing it! The power to change is within your grasp.

Question of the Day to Ask Ourselves

What can I do today to make the changes I want to make?

Lack and Limitation Programming

Our last get-together focused on beliefs and where they come from and what we can do to change some of the beliefs we hold so that we can succeed and reach our true potential. Now we’re going to examine why doing this is absolutely essential for most of us.

Think about the bulk of information we witness. So much of it is of a negative or limiting nature. What do we mean? You may have heard that “it takes money to make money” or that people sometimes just “strike it rich” or “get lucky” somehow. You may have come to accept that people from your neighborhood don’t make it big. You might not know anyone who went to school with you who pulled ahead of the pack without hurting a bunch of people in the process.

Consider this- if you live in a part of town which has small, 3 bedr where you live, but where you belong. Lack and limitation programming comes at us from almost every conceivable direction. Oh, the news is full of it. The news oom homes mostly, that just going down your street is subconsciously reinforcing that this is not only isn’t the only source of negativity, it comes from our friends, acquaintances, associates, co-workers, and more. Everywhere we look we observe what we see on that deeper level and then we attempt to fit in- all of this happens subconsciously.

If you’ve been thinking that dabbling a little in “self improvement” is going to reverse all this, think again. It’s not that easy. You have a literal mountain of programming, years and years of it, most of it coming from sources you never thought of as limiting or influential in any way. And then you have the intentional attempt at taking a teaspoon of good stuff and trying to sweep that mountain away. Will it happen? Nope. No way, no how. You have to begin purposely tuning out the old sources of where you got your information in the past as much as possible and replace them with new sources that take you boldly and strategically into the direction you wish to head. That means a radical shift in your world or it won’t happen. Fortunately, for us, such a radical shift is possible, it’s just not likely to happen overnight.

Our next discussion will center on how to create an unstoppable movement within you which will carry you to where you want to go. Get ready, this is going to be fun!

Question of the Day to Ask Ourselves

“What can I do right now to begin changing my lack and limitation programming?”

Daily Nugget of Gold 874

Manufactured Beliefs

You have beliefs, right? Our beliefs are usually thought of as these moral or Spiritual contexts we view the world to adhere to or that maybe we should abide by. Beliefs cover much more than that, though. For instance, if you plant a seed in the ground, will it grow? You might believe it will, or maybe you believe it won’t. You might even believe it might. Do you believe that marriage will bring out the best you have to offer or do you believe that for you, being single is the better approach? Do you believe that red meat is essential for nutrition or do you think that being a vegan is a wise thing to be? Do you believe we should fix the potholes in our roads or repave the roads instead? Do you believe we must work hard for money, or do you think money comes easily and frequently?

Where did your beliefs come from? Were most of your beliefs the product of careful thought and consideration of all the facts or did you end up more or less adopting the beliefs of your parents, your teachers, your siblings, or other mentors?

Do you believe you will be hugely successful, breaking all sorts of records in what you end up doing? Or do you believe that you’ll probably live an average to a little above average life in the area of achievement? Do you believe that people who succeed do so because they lie and cheat or do you reckon it has more to do with initiative and hard work? You see, all of what you believe will be coming together and creating your reality. What if your beliefs simply stink right now, is there hope?

There is! You can create whatever beliefs you like and form a deep emotional bond with them through repeating them to yourself again and again with feeling while in a relaxed state. If you’re a salesman, for instance, and you tell yourself over and over again with passion that you are “GREAT at closing sales” and detail how you believe it to be true, your subconscious mind will accept it as true. Then– almost as if by magic, it will become true. That’s a manufactured belief and the highly successful people among us create them and then live within them all the time. This seems pretty simple and it is– if you believe it is. What are you inclined to believe- be careful- you are about to define your reality!

Question of the Day to Ask Ourselves

“What can I do to create and install a belief to take me further than I’d otherwise go?”

Daily Nugget of Gold 873

Are You an Educated Person?

Did you make it through elementary school? How about high school? Did you finish vocational or trade school? How about college? At what point are we truly ‘educated”? We’re going to take a closer look at that because it seems that what many believe is “the educational process” is actually something quite different than we’ve grown to believe. Napoleon Hill, who spent his lifetime studying what made successful people successful, and then reduced that into his groundbreaking book, Think and Grow Rich, as well as many others on the subject had this to say about that:

“An educated man is not, necessarily, one who has an abundance of general or specialized knowledge. An educated man is one who has so developed the faculties of his mind that he may acquire anything he wants, or its equivalent, without violating the rights of others.” – Napoleon Hill

Was that anywhere near where you were thinking his take would be? How does that mesh with your own beliefs as to what makes a person “educated”? If it isn’t what you believed, where did your beliefs come from?

We have computers these days and the internet. Generalized and specialized knowledge are far more accessible than they were in Napoleon Hill’s day where you had to look to universities and libraries to fill those needs. If one needed to find an answer to practically any question, most of the time we are only seconds away from the information that we seek, aren’t we? So exactly how valuable is the person who can store a hundred thousand facts in their head, even if they can recall them easily? Perhaps as much as some game show is willing to pay us… if we can get on.

Hill spoke of the idea of developing the faculties of the mind to obtain what a person desires without violating the rights of others. Do you suppose such a person would be valuable in a business setting? Who do you think would be more sought after, the person who memorized facts or the person who can look at a bad situation and find the hidden opportunities in it? Who would you rather hire?

Don’t get us wrong, we aren’t knocking formal education, it has it’s role- but lifelong education it seems to us is key. The educational process we’re talking about is developing our minds to the point where we can obtain the desired results with the circumstances and events we find ourselves in utilizing people to achieve greatness- ours AND theirs. If the right conditions don’t exist, we want to be capable of creating them. Only then will we truly be educated in Hill’s definition, true?

Question of the Day to Ask Ourselves

“What can I do to get better at obtaining what I desire while not violating other people’s rights?”

Daily Nugget of Gold 872

Where Do YOU Reside?

Ah, the comfort of home. The soft couch, the deep carpet nestling your toes. The recliner that exudes laziness and tranquility. The warm and cozy bed. The well stocked fridge, calling your name to dine on your favorite foods. Most of us are fortunate to have such a place, aren’t we? A place we can retreat to and refresh ourselves for another adventure into the outside world tomorrow. We feel safe and secure there and we need a little of that in order to be at our best, don’t we? No argument there.

Our love of comfort forms our decisions on what to buy, we like shirts, pants, or pajamas that feel nice, we talk of “comfort foods” when we go out to eat, and generally those are the types of foods we remember from a warm and loving childhood, right? Life has a great deal of opportunities to get more comfortable and many of us strive mightily towards that end. Sometimes we pursue a career which will- we hope- provide us with enough financial rewards to bring these good things into our existence on a fairly regular basis, and why not?

Comfort can be a great thing to shoot for as a goal- the big home, the luxury car, the peaceful and romantic vacation relaxing on a beach or treating ourselves to all the fine dining on a cruise as we leisurely watch sunsets- all of this finer things in life are very nice, too.

There is something to watch out for in all of this. We don’t want to allow our ambitious purposes and dreams to die from a want of comfort. You see, in order to do any kind of significant growth we must as a practical plan forsake comfort and do what we feel a little uneasy and queasy about. Growth doesn’t happen by chance and it doesn’t happen at all if we only stay in our own little world of the familiar. We heard someone say once, “If you’re not growing, you’re dying.”

What are you doing right now? Do you involve yourself in things that put at least a little fear in you? Do you try to seek out new adventures or are you retreating deeper and deeper into your own little world? Are YOU growing or dying? Sorry to disturb you if you had already run out of any significant contribution, any new business ideas, or any creative works still within you. Most people don’t suddenly stop having the ability to do wondrous things, they simply ease down gradually, bit by bit, into a place where it all disappears and it feels so good. Or does it?

Question of the Day to Ask Ourselves

“What can I do right now to live a little closer to the edge and explore what I am truly capable of?”
