Your Wish is My Command
While explaining the basics of The Law of Attraction in the movie The Secret, author James Ray* relates how in the origins of the story of the genie and the wishes, that there was absolutely no limit on the number of wishes. Well, that’s pretty much what The Law of Attraction is about- there really is no limit to what it will do, but it is based on your beliefs. Ray went on to illustrate with his hands a new plant as it’s just about to break through the soil as a metaphor for someone attempting to get The Law of Attraction to work and just as it was about to break through, someone says, “This stuff doesn’t work!” and it goes down. This is an excellent analogy by Ray.
We’re particularly fond of someone we met as we first began teaching about this who was quick to show us all the times we were making similar negative commands to ourselves with the words, “Your wish is my command.” It’s just so easy for the ‘untrained eye’ to miss- but getting ourselves to see it as it happens is actually part of the fun in getting better. This is where having a partner, a family member, spouse, or friend who is also working on getting the law to respond really comes in handy.
Every declarative statement we make is a command. This holds true even if you don’t believe in The Law of Attraction because our subconscious mind is always listening to what we say, also. Never mind that you may not believe that the Universe, or God, if you will- or some other power based on the operation of The Law of Attraction is our source on these things- our subconscious mind alone is powerfully shaping outcomes and experiences for us based on the programming we give it. Say with conviction that “I can’t do this” or “I’m terrible with math” and your deeper mind will obey your wish and make it your reality.
Notice what you are saying both aloud and in thought to yourself especially if it defines you in some way. “I hate doing this kind of work” insures you will stay in a miserable state of mind whenever you are. “I have no money” will keep you broke forever. Forever! –Were you desiring to be broke from now on? Oh, don’t worry, if you hit the lottery, you’ll be broke again in no time, I you made the command so often it stuck. Use your success partnership with another to get past this common obstacle, say to each other “Your wish is my command” whenever you see each other making negative declarative statements. Have fun with it. In fact, tell yourself you’re having fun, after all….well, you know.
Question of the Day to Ask Ourselves
“What can I do to insure all my self-talk is positive?”
*Note: James Ray had very recently run into serious legal trouble concerning two deaths at a sweat lodge during a retreat he was running. We offered his comments from The Secret because they are indeed relevant. This is an excellent example of looking for the good in people and understanding that even people who may make serious mistakes or errors in judgment have value, just the same.
