“A strong positive attitude will create more miracles than any wonder drug.” – Patricia Neal
What are the things we can do in order to maintain a overall balance of being in a positive mood, put another way, in a positive vibration? There are many! When we see a negative situation, say- we get to the mall parking lot and it’s full at Christmas time- we can switch our thoughts to solving the problem as in, “What would be the best way to find a spot as it opens up?”, or “Is there somewhere else we want to shop today?” What we would do if we owned the mall, how would we deal with it? Would we build a bigger lot? We could also look at this from the positive standpoint, “Isn’t it wonderful that so many people are so blessed by being able to afford holiday presents for their friends and family?”
“Your attitude can take you forward or your attitude can take you down. The choice is always yours!”
Keeping our mind away from negativity is a challenge, for sure, but it’s a challenge which is certainly possible. In order to have the abundance in our lives we desire, we need to internally become the attractor of those positive things and not be repelling them with a negative focus on issues of little importance. We’ve kept a “gratitude rock” as suggested in the movie The Secret, because we at once understood the value of having something with us at all times which could remind us to think positively instead of negatively. The deal we made with ourselves is simply this, every time we touch that rock we are to think about what we are happy and grateful for. Will having a gratitude rock make you a positive person in and of itself? No, of course not, but it will help you get closer to that goal than you would have otherwise been.
“Always turn a negative situation into a positive situation.” – Michael Jordan
How do we do what Michael Jordan suggested here? We look for the opportunities that the negative situation carries with it. If we wanted to get our love flowers but the flower shop was closed, we could instead do something more creative. Maybe go to the 24 hour grocery store and pick up items that are their favorite things to eat and make a gift basket or box for them. Perhaps we could give of ourselves by writing poetry for them or singing to them. The point is, the positive thought of doing something nice for someone isn’t diminished by the negative situation, it’s enhanced! Understand that the shop being closed was a blessing and not a curse!
“There is little difference in people, but that little difference makes a big difference. The little difference is attitude. The big difference is whether it is positive or negative.” – W. Clement Stone
