A Penny for Your Thoughts
We’ve been thinking… If someone offered you a penny for your thoughts, that would almost be the ultimate insult, wouldn’t it? If thinking is the greatest function of the human mind- of the human being- then receiving a penny means we are really, really being underpaid. We’re pretty sure that’s even less than minimum wage, although- we must confess- we’re not really sure what the minimum wage is right now. (It’s never been our goal to shoot for the minimum)
Anyhow, before we put our two cents in – wait? How come it costs us more to offer an opinion than it does to buy some thoughts? Hmm, someone’s getting shortchanged here somewhere. Short-changed… get it? Okay, okay we’ll stop…
All kidding aside, our thoughts are potentially worth far more than a penny a bunch and our opinions seem like they might be a bit overpriced, but we want to spend a moment or two to gel all the ideas we’ve placed upon your imaginary desk thus far. As you might have guessed, we’re talking about putting whatever situation you’d like to work out onto a sheet of paper and then come up with three ideas each day which might result in change if implemented. We’re not really asking people to divorce themselves from TV or the internet to do this, we only want a tiny bit of the free time most people- if they were really honest- would admit to having.
“It is surprising what a man can do when he has to, and how little most men will do when they don’t have to.” – Walter Linn
The rewards of doing this are huge- beyond measure- but most people will only look at this as just some sort of way someone would like to annoy them into doing what they don’t want to do for results they doubt that will occur. Read that last line again, please. It seems to us that people season ideas of doing something they are the least bit uncomfortable doing with thoughts of failure. That way, they can just skip the process entirely. Okay, so be it. The “1 percent” thrives on the fact that people won’t do what they do. It’s job security for them. Those mental constraints we place upon ourselves are far more powerful than anything that the rich and the powerful could come up with. Why waste their time keeping the masses down when they do it to themselves so effectively and without any help?
Yes, we’ve likely stepped on a few toes here, we know. Eh, so be it. Go for it. Really, just go and do it. There’s nothing to stop you except that person you see in the mirror.
Question of the Day to Ask Ourselves
“What do I currently do which sabotages my own success?”
