“Life is a series of natural and spontaneous changes. Don’t resist them – that only creates sorrow. Let reality be reality. Let things flow naturally forward in whatever way they like.” – Lao Tzu

Getting into the Flow
May we ask you to do something? Would you be so kind as to take a look at where you are and your feelings as to where that is. Of course, we don’t mean in the physical sense, so much, as in the way you feel about your progress so far- is it fulfilling to you? Do you feel interested, engaged, driven, and effective? Do you feel that your life is making a tremendous difference in the world, that you’re having a great deal of satisfaction from who you are and what you do? If so- that’s awesome- but if not- let’s see if we can make a few tiny adjustments on that.
Have you taken a few moments at night as you go to sleep and asked yourself what it is you’d love to do- what you can put your heart and soul into? What is it you would love to do so much that you’d do it without pay- alas- you might even pay to do it! This isn’t an exercise for the impatient or the closed-minded. It may take time to get the answer. The answer might seem to be totally out in left field. The answer is not likely going to be in the form of God opening up the heavens and your bedroom ceiling and commanding you to do something- although if the answer came to us that way, we think few would want to ignore it! Not everyone has the power of lightning, tornadoes, earthquakes, and swarms of locusts behind their words, LOL!
Your answer is probably going to be in the form of a hunch, gut feeling, intuitive thought or something like that. Then all you need to do to confirm it is to begin at once doing something in that regard. See how it feels. If it feels right, if you could do it all day, if you LOVE doing whatever it is, if you feel wonderful and meaningful doing it- you’ve found it. Now for the flow part- go with the flow that being on that mission creates. Just do what comes naturally as you explore various ways to do more of it. Look for opportunities to open up, and if they don’t- make them!
Gauge this by how you feel, your feeling about this whole process should be more of you being carried by the currents of a strong river into the direction which expands what you do rather than you having to fight the currents in nature. Yes, sometimes you’ll be a person who is a lightning rod for change, but if that doesn’t feel great to you- then your role needs further refinement, make sense? Being bored with any part of your creative work is a sure sign of trouble, always stay in the flow of the things that excite you and motivate you. Stay in what you love to do and let others handle any distractions that come up. Keep the main thing the main thing. Your joy should be bursting from you as you do what you love to do. Isn’t that how you’d rather live, anyhow?
