‘”Destiny is no matter of chance. It is a matter of choice. It is not a thing to be waited for, it is a thing to be achieved.” – William Jennings Bryan

Once again, “Keep on asking, and you will receive what you ask for. Keep on seeking, and you will find. Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.”
This is this little verse from The Bible, Matthew 7:7 we’ve been examining for it’s educational value as far as The Law of Attraction is concerned. Today we focus on the third and final phrase of the verse, “Keep on knocking, and the door will be opened to you.” Have you ever heard of the expression, “Opportunity knocks”? Perhaps we have discovered in this little phrase why most people find that opportunity seems to pass them by- they expect opportunity to come knocking for them. If this verse is true, and we have no reason to doubt it’s validity thus far, then who is supposed to be doing the knocking? Opportunity? Or US?
One thing all three sections of this verse have in common is that action needs to be taken on the part of the person wanting something. We are to ask, we are to seek, and we are to knock. Nowhere here does it say, “Hey, just sit their and wait and your desired blessing will come to you.”
This brings us to one of the few things we found to be lacking in The Secret documentary: In only one scene did they actually point out that action may be required. It did nail it in that the action should seem to be easy and fun, sort of like going with the flow of things. It should “feel right” in other words. We see nothing in this verse telling us to force the issue, to brutally slave over what we want until we have it happen. What we see is the idea that if we will only take the initiative and keep asking, keep seeking, and keep knocking until we get what we desire, anything we wish to have will be ours.
A word of caution, however. If someone goes to the doctor again and again looking for some flaw in their body, some disease they might have- then the odds are very good that we will get what we are looking for. If we are knocking, let’s just be sure who or what’s on the other side of the door is who or what we want, not someone or something we’ll regret.
It’s probably a good thing that we don’t go to the scriptures too often in these pages- they seem to be a super-condensed source of wisdom which would be a challenge to do justice with. Just the same, for whatever religion you might or might not believe in, it would be rather foolish to ignore the wisdom of many Sacred texts. Science did take a go at that, but it didn’t work out so well. Today they find themselves looking right back at sources like this as they try to explain things like quantum physics.
“Ask. Seek. Knock.” The Secret says, “Ask, Believe, Receive”. Which one do you think is closer to the truth?
