“Life is thickly sown with thorns, and I know no other remedy than to pass quickly through them. The longer we dwell on our misfortunes, the greater is their power to harm us.” – Voltaire

Making it True
There is a process of turning an idea into a truth, and while it’s a given that we all do this from time to time for something we really want, it’s also important to realize that we make things happen that we don’t desire through the very same process. If we have such power, wouldn’t it be good to recognize that we are in possession of it? Wouldn’t it be an intelligent thing to work on getting better at using this power for our benefit and not for our detriment?
Why is it that in some societies, someone could practice Voodoo and make a pronouncement that a certain person will die within a short time and- lo and behold, that person does? Does the witch doctor have that kind of power over their victims? They do if the victim accepts what the witch doctor says as true. They do if they believe the witch doctor has that kind of power.
If we take the witch doctor out of the element of their community and place them instead in ours, the ‘power’ they enjoyed would be greatly diminished. The black magic they’ve worked before would only be possible to the extent of the belief of the victims they would try to control. Most of us accept what we’ve said here as true already, we know this stuff. What we haven’t become great at yet is realizing just how powerful a force faith is in our lives.
We can have the kind of faith that empowers us to be more, do more, and have more- or we can choose to put our faith in our fears. The great majority of us do both. Why would we want to spend any time with fear if it has such harmful effects in our lives? We have a choice in all this and it’s when we decide to work within ourselves to build up the faith in our abilities, in our gratitude for all that is right, for everything to work out in our favor as we move ahead. When we worry about things, fearfully dreading outcomes that we don’t desire, focus in on what is wrong with our lives that we bring these things to pass. You have a choice of where to put your faith, don’t you? Choose wisely.
