Physiology Dependent on Psychology
We said it in a scientific way in our title. Haanel, who often stated things in ways we at first found difficult to understand, said it in a more matter-of-fact, plain English, sort of way. What are we referring to here? What and who we are is dependent upon how we choose to think. Our (well) being is a creation of our thoughts, so we are in control of far more than just what we do, we have unequaled control over our wellness.
This is what Haanel said in the very beginning of the introduction to Part Twenty Two of The Master Key System: “In Part Twenty-two you will find that thoughts are spiritual seeds, which, when planted in the subconscious mind, have a tendency to sprout and grow, but unfortunately the fruit is frequently not to our liking.
The various forms of inflammation, paralysis, nervousness and diseased conditions generally, are the manifestation of fear, worry, care, anxiety, jealousy, hatred and similar thought.
The life processes are carried on by two distinct methods; first, the taking up and making use of nutritive material necessary for constructing cells; second, breaking down and excreting the waste material.
All life is based upon these constructive and destructive activities, and as food, water and air are the only requisites necessary for the construction of cells, it would seem that the problem of prolonging life indefinitely would not be a very difficult one.”
Haanel has described the physical nature of life accurately and in a way that very few scientists would disagree with. Science is also well aware of the power of thought upon the body, commonly known as “the placebo effect”- an effect so profound that in many studies on medicine, it’s to a larger extent than the medicine being considered.
Haanel’s second paragraph (above) is what would be controversial. He’s right, however, in identifying the negative thoughts and their corresponding physical manifestations. We’re foolish if we belief that negative thinking can’t manifest in our own bodies. What your author wants to point out is that the manifestations of negativity aren’t limited to our own being, our own human body, but rather to anything within our existence.
Still, Haanel made an excellent point in that this matters more than anything else as far as our health is concerned.
Question of the Day to Ask Ourselves
Considering the high cost of negative thinking, why not eliminate it entirely from my mind?”
