About Purpose, Specifically

It occurred to us that perhaps we should revisit how to discover your purpose, if you haven’t already done so. The central truth as to why we want to do this is that it allows us to align ourselves with our Creator and carry out our important role with happiness and joy. Most people don’t make this discovery and as a result, live their lives with their potential unspent. That’s a sad reality we can avoid, if we only are willing to find our role and work to carry it out to the best of our ability.

One of the links in the main navigation bar at our site, SuccessManiac.com is specifically about finding and pursuing your purpose. What we said there gels completely with what Haanel is saying in that we want to seek out inspiration and guidance from within rather than try and consciously come up with some sort of plan ourselves. Further, neither Haanel or we suggest that you ask your friends about what they think you should do.

As Haanel’s work is all about creating success by focusing on the causes of manifestation rather than trying to work in our outside reality to have it happen, seeking an answer as to what our purpose is should only be something we quiet our minds for and ask.

The beautiful thing about this is that when we get the answer, we can immediately begin to put it in place as the central part of our lives and as we do the things related to our purpose, we will at once know whether or not it’s genuine, for us. One indicator about whether this is the real deal will be whether we get into a state of “flow” when we do that work. Flow is all about doing things in such a happy, positive state of mind that time slips by unnoticed.

In essence, we get lost in our work and seek to prolong it. We might lose our appetite while we’re engaging in this, even. Blissful and joyous are words that describe what flow feels like. The work can be literally almost anything, but each of us have something we were just born to do. When we discover it and get after it, life really does change for the better in a lot of ways.

As to the meditation and thinking from where our answers come, forming the habit of visualizing the outcome desired and dwelling on it benefiting others is the necessary method of extraction of all the help we need to see it through. If things aren’t going right, we want to put our effort here, not in the outside world. Those things we end up doing relating to our purpose should “flow” from us without much effort. Always keep in mind, the mental work is the most important task at hand. Most problems we face are from a failure to impress our subconscious mind with what we want to accomplish, or in not being receptive to the guidance we get as a result of that. Pay close attention to hunches.

Purpose and Vision

In this Nugget we’re going to get down to the application of the principles set forth in part four of The Master Key System by Charles Haanel. Previously, we spent quite a few sessions on discussing how we want to control our thoughts so as to eliminate negative thinking in regards to others and ourselves. That’s no small order, and it may take some time before we’ve mastered that. We’re likely going to always be looking for opportunities to get better at that, but working from within is what this work is all about.

Today we’re going to cover purpose and vision. Before we get to that, let’s see what Haanel wrote on this topic:

“The more we give the more we shall get; we must become a channel whereby the Universal can express activity. The Universal is constantly seeking to express itself, to be of service, and it seeks the channel whereby it can find the greatest activity, where it can do the most good, where it can be of greatest service to mankind.

The Universal cannot express through you as long as you are busy with your plans, your own purposes; quiet the senses, seek inspiration, focus the mental activity on the within, dwell in the consciousness of your unity with Omnipotence. “Still water runs deep;” contemplate the multitudinous opportunities to which you have spiritual access by the Omnipresence of power.

Visualize the events, circumstances and conditions which these spiritual connections may assist in manifesting. Realize the fact that the essence and soul of all things is spiritual and that the spiritual is the real, because it is the life of all there is; when the spirit is gone, the life is gone; it is dead; it has ceased to exist.”

There’s a great deal of important information in this 3 paragraph snippet, isn’t there? This part reminds us of The Spirit of Opulence by Judge Thomas J. Troward. That rather short piece is linked in the main navigation bar of our website, SuccessManiac.com. We should remember that wealth comes in many forms, but wealth is readily available to us from the Infinite.

Since the Universal wishes to be expressive, we would best be served by facilitating the advancement of love for our fellow travelers. How shall we do this? Haanel implores us to go deep within ourselves in quiet meditation to be given inspiration. He asks us to visualize the events, circumstances, and conditions we desire and by doing so, call into being the assistance needed.

Remember, the temptation is to try and create the world we want by working with outside forces, any such attempt is doomed to failure. Instead, we must reach within if we are to succeed.

“When was the last time I visualized success in quiet, contemplative meditation?”

The Control of Thought

Okay, if we haven’t freaked our readers out yet by seemingly giving what most people will think of a nearly impossible set of instructions to carry out, here comes the most salient point of The Master Key System up to Part Four thus far- we are talking about something many people are going to think of as extremely difficult to do. Simply put, to have complete control over our thoughts. We want to state at this juncture, that’s the goal- not the expectation when one commences upon this work.

We spoke about the thoughts we think about others and ourselves in the last few get-togethers we had, and how it would be important that we keep those thoughts positive and loving and steer clear of critical and demeaning thoughts. The self-control of our mind is the major task at hand for all of us, but we want to assure you, our readers, that it is entirely possible to make major progress in doing this if you work on it daily.

It is very helpful, indeed, if you practice meditation regularly. The reason for that is that if you see that it’s possible to cease thinking, then the acceptance of the concept of controlling what thoughts we do think when we’re thinking them doesn’t seem as daunting as it once was. Aside from that, meditation allows us access to practices of focused attention and internalization of vision, ideals, and goals.

We want to let you know that our own practice has been guided through an intense curiosity of any methods which would help us wrest our control from the forces of the outside world and placing them into our ability to control and navigate our feelings and desires within. We’re not sure we’ve taken the easiest or even the clearest path toward that outcome, but we have managed to get further along than many people have dreamed possible. That said, there are many, many more people who are far and away better at this than we are.

We’re on a journey, just as you are, and we, by no means, have arrived. Every day we learn something new, and our goal is simply this- to relate it to you because it may be of help. Many of the masters we study occupy the same boat we do. They may be further along, or perhaps not- but they themselves sometimes will struggle with the kinds of issues we all face. We are rather fond of asking, “have you ever seen us in a bad mood?” because we know what the most likely answer will be. While most of the time we get a “no” from others, we ourselves know that we have, indeed, witnessed such events. Those times are our cue that work still needs to be done. We set about getting that work done.

Each time we find an area we need to work on, it’s really a cause for celebration because we will improve once we have unwrapped the gift we’ve been given.

“Do I view my imperfections as an opportunity to eliminate them?”

Right Thinking Positively

We want our readers to be able to get the absolute best results from applying the principles of right thinking and transforming their lives for the better. We have discussed at length the concept of what a “transaction” is in regards to our thoughts about another, and how such thoughts are every bit as much of an exchange as if money, physical goods, or services were involved. We understand that for most people, this might sound whacky, but we assure you, it’s rock solid and provable, should you wish to experiment with it yourself.

One of the biggest errors in judgment we think people make is in thinking that thoughts are contained only in the mind in the person thinking them. They seem very private, but they aren’t. The subconscious mind is always at work manifesting physical cues about our inner-most thoughts through non-verbal communication we have little control over. Beyond that, the things we think affect the Spiritual realm of ourselves and others in ways beyond our ken.

What we are concerned with in this session if that as we move to impress our subconscious mind with our visions and goals of what we want, we want to steer clear of any negativity as we do this. We’ve talked before about how The Law of Attraction doesn’t respond to words of negation. The best example we can think of is Bob Proctor’s proclaiming that saying “I want to get out of debt, I want to get out of debt” will keep you in debt forever. He recommends to set up an automatic payment program and focus instead on prosperity.

Never focus on the thing you wish to avoid, for you bring it into your existence with power and precision. Focus on the state of mind and of being free. Focus your mind on the positive only and never the negative. “I don’t want to be alone” would be best stated as “I want to find my soul-mate” for example. “I want to stop drinking” would be better stated “I wish to be in complete control of my mind at all times”.

Bear in mind, the way we think about others is often a dodge for avoiding handling of our own faults. When you’ve successfully become perfect, then and only then would we suggest criticizing another. (We’re kidding about the latter part of that, of course)

Right Thinking Thoughts

We took a little time and explained a bit more than Haanel did in The Master Key System about transactional right thinking. We also necessarily pointed out that “transactions” cover not only an exchange of money and/or goods but also any thinking we do in relation to another being. Most people don’t see these thoughts as transactions, but they are. By thinking in a certain way about another, we set up reciprocal thoughts which happen automatically through the laws of reciprocation and compensation.

Now we’ve muddied the waters further by opening up the possibility that the law of compensation applies to thoughts we think of another, even without their awareness of them. Let’s remind everyone we are talking about the Spiritual realm here, not physical. Wealth comes in a large rainbow of forms, some physical, and some Spiritual. When the thoughts we think in regards to another are positive and loving, we have blessed our own existence through our right thinking. When we are thinking negatively or harbor ill will against another, the transactional nature of those thoughts will exact a price from us.

The most effective way to help another who may be making bad decisions currently and is suffering the consequences of those decisions is to see them progressing and moving beyond those negative thoughts and consequences as we think of them, and to bless that process. These positive thoughts are modeled by us in our subconscious communication with them, both through the non-verbal portion of what we say and beyond, in the Spiritual realm as well.

This is big-league stuff here, and not how most people behave. Most people think it’s perfectly acceptable on occasion to hate others, or to wish for revenge, or to be envious to name a few undesirable states of mind. If you do that, you’ll get the mixed results that most people get, or worse- the tragic results that some people bring upon themselves. All of those negative states of mind have corresponding negative outcomes- and through The Law of Attraction, the individual affected knows not from where the negativity will rear its ugly head.

Right thinking requires we think only positive thoughts seeking to bless those being thought of. Right thinking necessarily aligns our thoughts with those of the Creator, of Infinite Wisdom.
